
In the 2022-2023 academic year, there were more than 56.7 thousand students in Moldova, 63% of them studied on a contract basis.
The National Bureau of Statistics presented such data on the occasion of International Students' Day, which is celebrated on November 17. Almost 60% of students in Moldova are women, 40% are men. Approximately 2/3 of the students studied in the first cycle of higher education. The majority of students studied on a contract basis - 35.8 thousand students (63% of the total number). The most popular specialties in the first cycle of higher education are in the field of business, administration and law (about 38% of the total), 11.8% of students received specialties in the field of engineering, processing technology, architecture and construction, 11.5% - in the field education, 10.1% - in the field of information technology and communications.
