Moldova: The lump-sum allowance for childbirth may increase from 10,932 to 20,000 lei.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection initiated the relevant amendments to the governmental decision on allowances for families with children. Proposals on the draft of this amendment are accepted till November 19. It is worth mentioning that if the draft is approved, the size of the lump-sum allowance will increase 1.8 times, which is a record increase of the lump-sum allowance. Thus, in 2020, the allowance was 8,299 lei, in 2021 - 9,459 lei, in 2022 - 10,068 lei and in 2023 - 10,932 lei. This allowance is granted for each child born alive, including in case of several children born from the same pregnancy, in the same amount; to the mother and, in case of her death, to the legal representative of the child. The allowance is granted on condition that the child is registered with the competent unit of the Public Services Agency and that the allowance was requested no later than within 12 months from the date of the child's birth. // 13.11.2023 - InfoMarket
