
The average nominal wage in Moldova amounted to 9,044.5 lei in the second quarter of 2021, up 15.2% compared to the same period in 2020.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) informed that, in real terms, taking into account the growth of inflation, the average salary increased by 11.8% compared to the second quarter of 2020, and compared to the first quarter of 2021 - by 6.8%. It should be noted that in the second quarter of 2021, the average salary in the public sector amounted to 7,778.5 lei (+ 8.5% compared to the same period in 2020), and in the real sector of the economy - 9,497.8 lei (+ 17.1%). The highest salaries were received by workers in the ICT sector - 21,753.9 lei (+ 17.4% compared to the same period in 2020), the financial and insurance industry - 16,698.6 lei (+ 16.2%), as well as enterprises for the production and supply of electricity, gas, water, air conditioning - 14,251.8 lei (+ 12.8%). In these areas, salaries were 2.4 times higher than the national average, by 84.6% and, accordingly, by 57.6%. The lowest salaries remain in the field of tourist accommodation and catering - 5,184.8 leis (+ 4.9%), as well as in agriculture, forestry and fishing - 5,206.4 leis (+ 4.3%). In these areas, salaries were lower than the average for the economy, by 42.7% and, accordingly, by 42.4%. The average salary of workers in the field of recreation and entertainment in April-June this year amounted to 6,169.3 lei (+ 12.5%); in the field of administrative services and ancillary activities - 6,773 lei (+ 12.3%); in the field of transport and storage services - 7,156.5 lei (+ 18.7%); in the field of real estate transactions – 7,304.3 lei (+ 14%); in the education system - 7,593.7 lei (+ 8.2%); in construction - 7,880.2 lei (+ 8.5%); in the sphere of trade, repair of cars and motorcycles - 7,982.3 lei (+ 14.4%); in the field of public administration and defense, compulsory social insurance - 10,273.5 lei (+ 9.6%); in the field of scientific and technical activities - 11,421.3 lei (+ 12.4%); in the health care and social protection system - 11,574.7 lei (+ 36.6%). In the industrial sector, salaries averaged 8,197 lei (+ 13.1%), including in the processing industry - 7,459.1 lei (+ 13.6%); in the extractive industry - 7,474.5 lei (+ 10.8%); at the enterprises of water supply, sewerage, waste treatment and treatment and restoration works - 8,291.9 lei (+ 19%). // 01.09.2021 – InfoMarket
