The Romanian Senate has approved a bill extending the sale of electricity to Moldova at a limited, preferential price
The document was adopted with 71 votes in favor, 3 votes against and 47 abstentions. It is stipulated that in the event of an electricity deficit in Moldova, Romanian producers will be obliged to conclude bilateral contracts with suppliers appointed by the Moldovan government at a regulated price set at 400 RON/MWh (around 80 euros/MWh). It was previously reported that Moldova buys from Romania at a preferential price part of the electricity produced by the Cernavoda nuclear power plant, which is supplied to it by the Romanian company Nuclearelectrica. The price of energy from Nuclearelectrica is preferential for Moldova and is limited by the Romanian decree on the state of emergency at 400 RON/MWh. // 27.03.2025 — InfoMarket
