The Ministry of Energy of Moldova called for accelerating the progress of work on the modernization of the Chisinau electrical substation
As noted in the message of the department, the Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu visited the Chisinau electrical substation, where construction work is in full swing to lay the foundations for 330 kV and 400 kV equipment for the power autotransformer, and the foundation laying for the 400 kV equipment is in the final stage. At the same time, about 80% of the main equipment required for the modernization of this substation has already been delivered to Moldova, including a 630 MVA autotransformer, circuit breakers and high-voltage disconnectors for 330 kV and 400 kV. In this context, Dorin Junghietu emphasized the need to mobilize and strengthen the contractor's workforce to complete the work as soon as possible. During the discussions, Ruslan Surugiu, Director of the United Unit for Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE), informed the Minister of Energy about the progress achieved, as well as the work plan for the near future, noting that the necessary measures are being taken and the contractor's work schedule is being strictly monitored so that the works are completed according to the proposed deadlines. During the discussion, Sergiu Aparatu, Director General of Moldelectrica, emphasized the importance of the new installations to facilitate the operation of the power system, offering the possibility of supplying electricity to the Chisinau power hub. The Chisinau substation will be modernized by expanding the existing 330 kV installation with a new 400 kV cell for the Vulcanesti-Chisinau power transmission line, with the installation of a 400/330 kV autotransformer. The modernization of the Chisinau substation, along with the expansion of the Vulcanesti 400 kV power plant, will connect the 400 kV Vulcanesti-Chisinau overhead power line to the electrical infrastructure in the southern and central regions of the country, including the municipality of Chisinau, and are necessary for the direct transportation of electricity to the largest consumption node in the country. The work under the contract is carried out by Siemens Energy, Electromontaj and Energotech from Romania. This project is being implemented by the Government of Moldova through the Ministry of Energy and UCIPE with the support of the World Bank. //25.02.2025 – InfoMarket
