Moldova will diversify natural gas purchases for household consumers
This was discussed during a meeting held within the parliamentary commission on economy, budget and finance with key institutions and companies in the energy sector on the topic of natural gas supplies to end consumers. According to the chairman of the commission, Marian Radu, the deputies discussed with representatives of the Ministry of Energy, NAER, Moldovagaz, Termoelectrica and CET Nord updated information on the implementation of the recommendations presented by the specialized commission at the parliamentary meeting on December 3, 2024, and the progress achieved. Marian Radu specified that the responsible persons presented a calendar of diversified natural gas purchases for the next 12 months, depending on the periods and type of supplies (e.g. annual, quarterly, monthly). They were asked to provide quarterly information on the implementation of this procurement plan. In addition, the parties discussed cooperation between government agencies and industry companies, as well as the next steps to increase competition in the natural gas supply market. No further details were provided. Earlier, Radu Marian noted that gas supply companies should develop a long-term gas purchase plan and present it within 60 days to diversify gas purchases for household consumers for 12 months. This is one of the recommendations made following the public hearings held in Parliament on the issue of increasing natural gas tariffs and its impact on consumers and the national economy. Radu Marian noted that gas supply companies to consumers should have a long-term gas purchase plan, they should not buy it all at once, but should have separate contracts, different suppliers, different price formulas, annual, quarterly, in order to buy gas for consumers in advance, as in Europe.// 18.02.2025 — InfoMarket.
