Construction of the 400 kV Vulcanesti-Chisinau high-voltage transmission line will be completed by the end of 2025 - Dorin Recean
This was announced by Prime Minister, who, together with Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu, visited the construction site in Taraclia on Thursday to check the progress of works and discussed with the team implementing the project the next steps. He demanded strict compliance with the deadlines for the construction of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau transmission line. “To ensure that the works progress as planned, they will be carried out simultaneously in several regions, and the number of work teams will increase. This week, the works started in Cimislia district and we need to speed up the pace,” Dorin Recean said. He recalled that at the moment, the high-voltage line, which carries electricity from Romania before reaching Chisinau and other parts of the country, passes through the Transnistrian region. “This creates a constant risk that the regime in Tiraspol could 'turn off the tap', leaving us without light. The new transmission line will ensure a direct, safe and stable interconnection between Moldova and the European Union. This project will strengthen the country's energy security, reduce the risks of power supply interruptions and eliminate the dependence on the Kremlin, which used energy as a blackmail tool,” Minister Dorin Recean said. The construction of the 400 kV Vulcanesti-Chisinau high-voltage transmission line started in April 2024 and is being carried out within the framework of the Moldova Power System Development Project financed by the World Bank Group. The total cost of the project is 61 million euros, of which 27 million euros have been allocated for the construction of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau line. // 20.02.2025 - InfoMarket
