Moldova will resort to emergency supplies of more expensive electricity on January 14, but no rolling blackouts - Ministry of Energy and Energocom

This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Moldova and the state-owned company Energocom, noting that, in particular, on January 14, electricity consumption on the right bank of the Dniester is planned to be the same as on January 13, but due to the capacity limitation of the interconnection with Romania (accumulated on the market for the next day and on the intraday market), it was not possible to fully reserve the required capacity, and therefore, in the period from 16:00 to 19:00, in order to cover consumption forecasts, Moldova will resort to emergency supplies of electricity. In this regard, the Ministry of Energy and Energocom called on citizens to reduce electricity consumption in order to reduce the load on the entire system. As noted, the remaining electricity needed on January 14 will be supplied by the heating plants in Chisinau and Balti, renewable energy stations, and supplemented by electricity purchased under bilateral contracts and on the stock exchange in Romania. The Ministry of Energy of Moldova clarified that the volume of emergency energy is only 3% of daily consumption, and does not affect tariffs for consumers yet. There will also be no power outages. //13.01.2025 — InfoMarket
