The Moldovan government will compensate economic agents up to 50% of the increase in electricity tariffs for a period of 3 to 6 months

This was announced by the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba, noting that the Moldovan government is developing an Electricity Compensation Program for Economic Agents, designed to help domestic producers and support their competitiveness. According to him, this will compensate up to 50% of the increase in electricity tariffs for a period of 3 to 6 months, depending on the available resources and needs. Support will be directed to where it is most needed - companies for which electricity bills make up a significant share of production costs. Compensation will be applied from the first day of the tariff increase, and detailed regulation will be announced later. Up to 10 thousand companies are potentially eligible for this compensation. Priority will be given to companies producing food, milk, meat, eggs and bread in our country. In addition, the support will be extended to other important sectors of the manufacturing industry, such as footwear, clothing, furniture, electrical components and others. "We value every entrepreneur in this country, we are aware of their importance in maintaining and developing the economy even in difficult times. Every entrepreneur producing in Moldova can count on us as a reliable partner. Together we will show solidarity and resilience. We urge you to believe and stay strong," said Dumitru Alaiba. He noted that, in addition to the announced compensation mechanism, which will have a limited impact, the competitiveness of our producers requires constant support for their investment activities. The Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization emphasized that from January 1, domestic entrepreneurs can benefit from the first state support mechanism aimed at new investments. In particular, up to 60% of investments made by entrepreneurs in business expansion and development will be returned. Of this amount, 25% are non-refundable grants; 75% is a 50% exemption from income tax. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to invest in energy efficiency in all production processes, in more productive machines that consume less and provide higher productivity, thermal insulation and renewable energy sources. Another available support tool, Dumitru Alaiba mentioned, is the Investment Attraction Program "373", which has contributed to attracting investments by supporting Moldovan companies in the technological process and increasing productivity for a total of over 3.5 billion lei, which is over 1% of GDP. In addition, actions such as the introduction of new energy-efficient technologies, increasing productivity and expanding production capacities can contribute to the continuous and stable development of companies. "Thus, entrepreneurs become more competitive, stronger and prepared for any kind of challenges," said the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization.// 10.01.2025 – InfoMarket.
