The electricity demand on the right bank of the Nistru/Dniester River on January 11 will be fully covered without activation of emergency contracts - Government
Government's Crisis Cell announced this, noting that the information on the situation in the energy sector shows full coverage of electricity consumption on the right bank of the Nistru/Dniester River on January 9 and 10, noting that the activation of emergency contracts and/or unforeseen flows is not required. On January 9, electricity consumption on the right bank of Nistru was covered by the following sources: imports from Romania - 51.62% of the total; Termoelectrica - 29.69%; renewable energy - 14.03%; CET-Nord - 3.96%; Costesti HPP - 0.7%. According to Moldelectrica's operational data, electricity consumption peaked between 17:00 and 19:00, with a maximum volume of 829 MW. On January 10, the state-owned company Energocom announced that it had reserved commercial capacities on the border with Romania to cover 100% of the required electricity volumes. At the same time, the company announced yesterday that it had signed a 30 MW (24 hours per day) power purchase contract with OMV Petrom România, valid from January 10 to January 31. The contract with OMV will allow reducing the volume of electricity purchased on the exchange, which is characterized by volatility. The crisis headquarters of the Moldovan government noted that the demand for electricity on the right bank of the Nistru River on January 11 will also be fully covered without activation of emergency contracts. Energocom has reserved commercial capacity on the border with Romania to cover 100% of the electricity demand. As for the Transnistrian region, daily blackouts there continue. On January 7, 8 and 9, there were 8 hours of interruptions per day, and today there are planned 5-hour blackouts. The current consumption of the Transnistrian region is provided by MoldGRES and Dubasari HPP, which, however, do not produce enough electricity. The constitutionally controlled villages of Copanca and Varnita are also included in the schedule of blackouts. The Moldovan authorities are supporting the settlements in the security zone in dealing with the energy crisis. According to the decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations of January 6, the villages of Varnita, Anenii Noi district, and Copanca, Causeni district, are to be connected to the Premier Energy Distribution power distribution networks. At the same time, the government has already provided humanitarian aid, including fuel and generators, to support residents affected by the power outage. At the same time, 14 settlements will be integrated into the gas distribution networks of Moldovagaz licensed operators. // 10.01.2025 - InfoMarket.
