Romania is ready to help Moldova this winter with gas and electricity supplies if necessary
Romanian Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja stated this, noting that Moldova needs Romania's help in the face of the enormous pressure Russia is putting on it in terms of energy access. “There is nothing worse than depending on those who use their resources not for development, not for help, but as a weapon for blackmail,” Sebastian Burduja stressed. He said Moldova has declared state of emergency in the energy sector and Romania, as it has done so far, will help Moldova not only on the basis of bilateral agreements, but also on many other things that unite them and will always do so. “We will be with Chisinau! The Romanian Energy Ministry is closely cooperating with the relevant authorities in Moldova and at the European level to manage the situation in case such a scenario as the suspension of natural gas supplies by Gazprom becomes a reality,” Sebastian Burduja said. He noted that the sides have already launched a joint action plan to avoid surprises. In particular, a dialog is under way between Moldovan and Romanian companies to buy electricity, if necessary, on a commercial basis. Technical solutions are being defined for the supply of electricity through already existing lines, including the 110 kV lines between Moldova and Romania. Priority is set for Moldova's access to gas stored in Romania, in case of a crisis in Moldova, within the available limits, after ensuring domestic consumption. Operational balancing capacities for gas will be increased. “Romania is ready for the winter we have entered and has the resources to support Moldova if the situation requires it. Romania has an obligation, Europe has an obligation not to abandon Moldova and Ukraine in the face of aggression coming from the East, either in the form of tanks, missiles and hatred, or through barbaric blackmail in the energy sector,” Romania's Energy Minister said. //13.12.2024 - InfoMarket.
