Moldelectrica negotiates with Romanian Transelectrica to increase the possibilities of importing electricity from the Romanian energy system

In particular, in connection with the statements and instructions received from Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Moldelectrica informs citizens that in early November this year it successfully activated the islanding mode on 4 110 kV high-voltage transmission lines connecting Moldova with Romania. “We are currently negotiating with Transelectrica on the use of consumption islands to increase the commercial capacity to import electricity from the Romanian power system. In addition, Moldelectrica has approached the EU Eastern Region Transmission Network Operators regarding the use of undistributed capacity at the borders of the Ukraine-Moldova block within the framework of daily and intra-day distribution at the border between Romania and Moldova,” the company said in a statement. It notes that Moldelectrica is in the process of ensuring emergency measures to maintain the functionality of the electricity transmission infrastructure, including through cooperation with system and transmission operators from neighboring countries. In order to ensure the level of preparedness in case of imbalance scenarios at the power system level, Moldelectrica has updated the lists of manual shutdowns and is in the process of preparing for their possible activation. In this regard, Moldelectrica encourages citizens to remain calm and to get information from official sources in order to avoid misinformation. // 06.12.2024 - InfoMarket.
