
Greece, Bulgaria and Romania will discuss the possible extension to Moldova of the Thessaloniki-Kavala-Alexandroupolis-Alexandroupolis-Burgas-Varna-Constanta gas pipeline.
According to Romanian and Bulgarian mass media, this will be discussed at a meeting of the Prime Ministers of the three countries in Varna on October 9. Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu has already been received on Monday at the Euxinograd residence near Varna by Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov to participate in the trilateral meeting Romania-Bulgaria-Greece. According to the Romanian government, on the margins of the meeting, the Romanian Prime Minister will hold a trilateral meeting with Prime Ministers of Bulgaria and Greece, as well as bilateral meetings with Prime Ministers of the two countries. In turn, members of the Romanian government delegation accompanying the Prime Minister will take part in working meetings on regional security, cooperation in energy and transportation, scheduled during the event in Varna. According to the Bulgarian press agency BTA, European Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas, European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean and Moldovan Energy Minister Victor Parlicov will also take part in the discussions in Varna. The main topic of the meeting will be regional connectivity, especially the future Greece-Bulgaria-Romania corridor on the route Thessaloniki-Kavala-Alexandroupolis-Burgas-Varna-Constanta with a possible extension to Moldova. The idea is to create a modern transportation, energy infrastructure along the relevant route in order to stimulate economic and political relations between the participating countries.
