Legal separation of Moldova’s gas transmission system operator should be completed in 2023.
The Ministry of Energy reported this, noting that this process, which began in 2011, has not yet been completed. At the same time, the country will implement the EU Regulation on Wholesale Energy Market Integrity and Transparency (known as REMIT), one of the main objectives of which is to prevent actions to manipulate the market. These topics were discussed in Brussels by a Moldovan delegation, headed by Energy Minister Victor Parlicov, with the management of the European Network of Gas Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-G). Thus, the transport system operators will exchange operational data, which will be published on the ENTSO-G transparency platform. The Regulation (REMIT) started being implemented by the National Energy Regulatory Agency in February of this year. From March to date, ANRE has registered five companies participating in the wholesale gas market. "This time we are determined, without further excuses and delays, to fulfill our commitments to separate the second transmission system operator and liberalize the gas market," said Victor Parlicov. The discussions with the leadership of ENTSO-G also focused on the gas transport infrastructure and gas storage in order to be prepared for the next heating season. The Moldovan delegation also had a similar dialogue with the executives of ENTSO-E and the Energy Community Secretariat. The meeting was focused on energy inter-connection projects, the allocation of trading capacities on the basis of a fair and equitable mechanism, the improvement of the regulatory framework regarding the balancing market and Moldelectrica's observer status in ENTSO-E. The leadership of the Ministry of Energy, companies of the sector, representatives of ANRE and a number of MPs were in Brussels on May 22-23 to participate in the 4th meeting of the High Level Dialogue on Energy between the European Union and Moldova. // 24.05.2023 - InfoMarket.
