Moldova plans to complete the implementation of Energy Package III in the part related to the separation of operators in the electricity and gas markets in 2023.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Constantin Borosan said this at a meeting in Chisinau with Deputy Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Dirk Buschle. According to the Ministry of Energy, during the meeting, the sides discussed government's achievements in 2022 related to the Energy Community Treaty and priorities for the current year. The interlocutors touched on the deadlines for transposing European directives on electricity, natural gas, energy efficiency and renewable energy into national legislation, as well as developments in ensuring reliable energy supplies and the development of electricity and natural gas markets, and support measures from the Energy Community. Constantin Borosan expressed gratitude for the substantial assistance provided during the energy crisis, keenly felt in October 2021 and November 2022, and stressed that Moldova still needs the Energy Community's support, being one of the most affected countries due to the war in Ukraine. "We are determined to honor all the commitments made within the Energy Community, as they help us move forward in the European integration process. We aspire to become full members of ENTSO-E and participate in the processes within the organization," said Constantin Borosan. According to him, these are the priorities for this year: the completion of the implementation of Energy Package III, in terms of the separation of operators on the electricity and natural gas markets, increasing the capacities placed on the border with Romania and Ukraine and creating competitive energy markets. Also, it was discussed the implementation of the Clean Energy Package, the creation of natural gas reserves and the progress of building interconnection infrastructure with neighboring countries and new generating capacities. // 06.04.2023 – InfoMarket
