
The volume of natural gas consumption in Moldova reached 101.8 million cubic meters in December 2022, which is 42.2% less than in the same period of 2021.
The press-service of Moldovagaz informs that, at the same time, this figure increased by 38.7 million cubic meters compared to November 2022 (+61.3%). Domestic consumers, as of December 31, 2022, had settled 99.1% of their 2022 consumption bills, up 0.4 percentage points over the same period last year. In the case of non-household consumers (legal entities), the payment rate reached 99%, which is identical to the same period last year. In the case of enterprises of the thermal power sector of the country, the payment rate was 99.9% (+0.2 p.p.). In accordance with the Law on Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, domestic consumers of 573,576 personal accounts were paid compensation for natural gas consumed in December 2022 in the amount of 523.5 million lei. In addition, for household consumers from residents' associations, amounting to 9,848 units, the compensation amounted to 8.6 million lei, according to the energy vulnerability category assigned to each of them. During the reporting period, 378 consumption points were disconnected from the network, the owners of which owed the supplier 1.7 million lei. At the same time, 193 consumers were transferred to advance payment, due to the earlier suspension of supplies for non-payment on time of the cost of consumed natural gas. According to Moldovagaz, the total level of payment for the natural gas consumed in the current year as of December 31, 2022 amounted to 12.329 billion lei and covers 99.3% of supplies in January-November 2022.
