Energocom has increased direct purchases of electricity from Romanian producers and is negotiating supplies with companies from Bulgaria, Hungary and Slovakia.
Energocom said that, starting from November 25, Complexul Energetic Oltenia will sell to Moldova 20 MWh of electric energy at a price of 900 Romanian lei (RON) per MWh. On December 1, Energocom will buy from another Romanian company, OMV Petrom, 80 MWh, which is 30 MWh more than the current price. The price of energy under this contract is 450 RON per MWh. Moreover, starting December 1, CET Craiova will supply Moldova with 5 MWh of power at 1000 RON per MWh. According to Energocom, all in all, Moldova today on the basis of bilateral contracts purchases from Romania about 2000 MWh daily and 2500 MWh during weekends. Starting from December 1, these volumes will go up to 2,700 MWh on weekdays and 3,200 MWh on weekends. At present, the country needs about 13 thousand MWh/day, of which about 2500 MWh (about 20% of consumption) are produced by internal sources (local cogeneration plants and renewable sources). Approximately 2/3 of Moldova's electric power needs are covered due to daily power purchases from Romanian power exchange operated by state company OPCOM. Energocom is negotiating direct contracts with other energy companies from other countries, such as Bulgaria, Hungary and Slovakia. As Energocom's interim director Victor Binzari noted, there are certain restrictions in Romania due to the state of emergency, due to which long-term contracts with prices different from those on the exchange market cannot be concluded. "But we are looking for solutions and are constantly negotiating with our Romanian colleagues. At the same time, we have recently applied for a license in Bulgaria, which will allow us to register on the local exchange and conclude profitable contracts," said the head of Energocom. // 25.11.2022 - InfoMarket.
