The Energy Community Secretariat stated that Moldova's gas supply is threatened by Gazprom's blackmail and promised to continue supporting the country in diversifying its gas and electricity supplies.

According to the Energy Community Secretariat statement, despite the fulfillment of payment obligations, Moldova is under the threat of being cut off from Russian gas supplies. It is stressed that Gazprom has made unfounded claims that a third party - Ukraine - is reducing the actual volumes needed for Moldova. "All these claims are false as Ukraine’s gas transmission system operator is performing its transit obligations for months in spite of the war conditions. It is another example of the unreliability of the Russian supplier and the use of gas supplies as blackmail," said the Energy Community Secretariat. Its director Artur Lorkowski said that the Energy Community Secretariat refutes such false claims. The Secretariat will continue to support Moldova in diversifying its gas and electricity supplies and praises Moldova’s efforts to purchase non-Russian supplies of gas and store it in neighbouring countries. It is also essential that the international community stands firmly by Moldova. The Energy Rescue Scheme set up by the Secretariat is ready to channel donors’ financial assistance for Moldova to face the harsh winter ahead," he stressed. // 24.11.2022 - InfoMarket.
