The government is preparing several risk reduction scenarios in case Gazprom fails to confirm the continuity of gas supplies or the situation in the gas market worsens - Andrei Spinu.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development informed that starting from October 1, the purchasing price for Moldovan gas will go down as Moldova will pay about $1050 per 1,000 cubic meters instead of the current $1880. "We expect Gazprom to fulfill the contract with Moldovagaz. However, taking into account the global gas crisis and the fact that Gazprom has not yet confirmed the continuity of supplies, the government is preparing several scenarios to mitigate possible risks. Among them are the purchase of fuel oil for Termoelectrica, an increase of the gas stock, the introduction of measures to reduce gas consumption, preparations for the purchase of gas by Energocom from the market and other measures, according to the plan of preparation for the heating season, approved by the government," Andrei Spinu said. At the same time, he stated that "Moldova is a small country, but it deserves the respect of other countries of the world, no matter how big or small they are." "Our priority interest is for Moldovan citizens to live peacefully, safely, with good and stable incomes. That's why we have to withstand. That's why it's important that we act as one nation. That's why we will continue to take care of our citizens and the future of our country", the minister said. According to the contract with Gazprom, Moldovagaz has to pay in full the cost of natural gas consumed in the previous month and 50% of the cost of contracted gas for the current month by the 20th day of each month. The company has fully repaid the August supplies of natural gas to the country, but only 5% of the advance payment for September amounting to about $36 million has been made. Moldovagaz is working with the government on the advance payment for September; the advance has to be paid by the end of September. //29.09.2022 - InfoMarket.
