The war in Ukraine has turned Moldova into an important exporter of oil products, and oil products could become the basis for its exports - IDIS Viitorul.
This was pointed out by Veaceslav Ionita, economic policy expert at the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives. He noted that Moldova used to export $10-20 million of oil products per year ($2.5-$5 million per quarter). "The war in Ukraine unexpectedly turned us into a regional player on the market of oil products and led to an increase in re-export of fuel to Ukraine. Our exports of refined products in Q2 2022 increased 50-fold to $190 million in one quarter. On an annualized basis, we already have $200 million in exports, which puts petroleum products in the 4th place in the top Moldovan exports. If things keep going at the same pace, we have a good chance that petroleum products will become Moldova's main export product in 2022", Veaceslav Ionita said. // 18.08.2022- InfoMarket.
