Moldova has relatively low prices for petroleum products among European countries: it ranks 8th in gasoline low cost and 5th in diesel fuel low cost.
These are the data of GlobalPetrolPrices.com, presented by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE). It is worth mentioning that fuel prices in Moldova remain relatively low compared to many other countries of the European continent. At the same time, they continue to rise against the background of an unprecedented increase in oil prices, which is the combined consequence of two main factors: the restart of the world economy after the pandemic and, consequently, the imbalance between supply and demand; the crisis due to the war in Ukraine, which disrupted traditional supply chains and partially drove Russian oil products from Western markets. As a result, the European market for oil products has been hit hardest by these two factors, especially with 30% of crude consumption and 40% of oil consumption being imported from Russia. According to GlobalPetrolPrices.com, as of June 6, the rating of European oil prices is as follows. The lowest gasoline prices are in Belarus and Russia - $0.705 and $0.840, respectively. Next come Hungary - $1.336, Malta - $1.433, Turkey - $1.589, Slovenia - $1.668, Serbia - $1.677, Moldova - $1.717, Ukraine - $1.720, Bulgaria - $1.750, Poland - $1.761, Bosnia and Herzegovina - $1.774, Romania - $1.818 per liter, etc. At the same time the lowest prices for diesel fuel were also registered in Belarus and Russia - $0.705 and $0.860 per liter. They are followed by Malta with $1.294, Hungary with $1.350, Moldova with $1.544, etc. As ANRE notes, thus, the data presented show that Moldova yields in fuel prices only to countries that have their own resources (such as Russia and Belarus) or to countries that have intervened in pricing policies by freezing/restricting and reducing tax burden. ANRE reminds that, thanks to the price limitation mechanism and regulation of specific trade mark-up, Moldova maintains a relatively lower price level. In the circumstances of a complex regional situation, which leads to a continuous rise in the prices of oil products, ANRE has set the following maximum retail prices for standard petroleum products for tomorrow, June 9: gasoline COR 95 - 32.93 lei/liter (+0.34 lei); diesel fuel - 29.87 lei/liter (+0.57 lei). // 08.06.2022 - InfoMarket
