Ukraine's largest producer of electricity, Energoatom, will start supplying electricity to Moldova starting June 4 at a price of $77 per 1 MWh.

The Ukrainian company's press service reported this, noting that Energoatom signed an export contract with the Moldovan state company Energocom. According to the agreements, Energoatom plans to supply 85,200 MWh of electricity to Moldova in June at a price of $77 per MWh. Energoatom has a big potential for increasing the production of electric energy, so electricity export to Moldova and then to neighboring EU countries is an extremely promising line of business for the company. It is emphasized that Moldova's energy consumption is largely dependent on generation at the Moldovan HPP, located in the Transnistrian region and owned by Russia. The Ukrainian export will allow Moldova to diversify the electric power supplies and reinforce its energy security. As InfoMarket agency earlier reported, Energocom has extended the contract with the Moldovan HPP for one more month and will buy electric energy from it in June at $59.9 per MW against $59.5 a month earlier. According to Andrei Spinu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the Moldovan HPP will supply 70% of the electricity needed on the right bank of the Nistru/Dniester. He noted that in addition, the state company Energocom will sign a contract for the supply of the remaining 30% of electricity with the Ukrainian state company Energoatom. According to him, on the whole, the weighted average electricity purchase price in June will amount to about $65.03 per MW. It should be noted that in May Moldova purchased electric energy also from two sources - 70% from the Moldovan HPP and 30% from the Ukrainian Ukrhydroenergo. At the same time, the selling price of electricity from the Moldovan HPP rose in May from $53.5 to $59.5 per MWh. Premier Energy said earlier that it buys electricity supplied by Ukrhydroenergo at a price of $84.74 per MW, which also includes a commission for services provided by the supplier Energocom. // 03.06.2022 - InfoMarket.
