Retail fuel prices in Moldova continue to rise amid a further increase in Platts quotations and record gasoline prices over the last 10 years – ANRE.
The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) stated this, noting that the shortage of oil products caused by the war in Ukraine and the refusal of the European Union countries to import crude oil and oil products from the Russian Federation, continue to lead to a significant increase in global fuel prices. Given that Moldova imports 100% of the consumed oil products, the current trends are reflected in the national market as well. As a result, Platts quotes, which are benchmarks for the oil industry, as prices are formed on their basis, have risen sharply lately. On May 27, the price of diesel fuel topped $1150 per ton, up 72.41% from the beginning of 2022, while gasoline COR 95 topped $1300 per ton, up 75.14% from the beginning of 2022 and a record high in the last 10 years. Under current conditions on international markets and based on Platts' average quotations of the previous 14 days, the following maximum retail prices for the main standard petroleum products have been set for tomorrow, May 30: COR 95 gasoline - 31.31 lei/liter; Diesel - 27.42 lei/liter. ANRE underlines that the current mechanism of petroleum products price formation excludes the interference of market participants in price formation and is aimed at providing consumers with fair, transparent and easily verifiable prices. // 30.05.2022 - InfoMarket
