Moldovagaz is discussing with the government the possibility of subsidizing large enterprises on the background of the expected increase in gas tariffs.

Chairman of the Moldovagaz Board Vadim Ceban said that it is important to find a solution and provide assistance to big gas consumers producing essential goods so that prices do not grow even higher after an expected new rise in gas tariffs for final consumers. According to him, there are 200 enterprises that are big gas consumers in Moldova and produce such important products as bakery, dairy products, canned food and other products and gas makes up 50-70 per cent of their production costs. "Increase of gas tariffs and the price of their finished products will lead to inflation, and we want to apply a government program of direct subsidies to them to compensate for the increased cost of gas," said Vadim Ceban, noting that the details are being discussed in the government. "We are now conducting a stress test with large industrial consumers, who use gas as a raw material, and want to see together what limit on the price of gas will allow them to work without losses. We want to foresee compensations for such enterprises, so that increase of gas tariffs would not affect the final price of their products," said the head of Moldovagaz. // 27.05.2022 – InfoMarket
