Energocom has extended the contract with the Moldovan HPP for one more month and will buy electric energy from it at the price of $59.9 per MW against $59.5 a month earlier.
Andrei Spinu, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development said that the Moldovan HPP will supply 70% of the electric energy required by the right bank of the Nistru River. In addition, the state company Energocom will sign a contract for the supply of the remaining 30% of electricity with the Ukrainian state company EnergoAtom (Энергоатом). According to him, in general, the weighted average purchase price of electricity in June will be about $65.03 per MW. "In addition, on June 1, Electricity Market Rules will take effect. We are getting closer to the European practice in terms of organization of wholesale power market. The novelty presupposes, in particular, organization of the balancing market and the mechanism of payments for imbalances. These mechanisms apply to wholesale electricity market players and do not directly affect end consumers. After many delays, today we can say that we are approaching European standards in this sector. We are determined to complete the initiated reforms," Andrei Spinu wrote in his telegram channel. It should be noted that in May of this year Moldova was getting the electric power also from two sources - 70% of the required volume was provided by the Moldovan HPP and 30% - by the Ukrainian Ukrhydroenergo (Укргидроэнерго). At the same time, the selling price of electricity from the Moldovan HPP rose in May from $53.5 to $59.5 per MWh. Premier Energy announced earlier that it buys the electricity supplied by Ukrhydroenergo at $84.74/MWh, which also includes a service fee from Energocom. Andrei Spinu noted that the approximate average price of electricity in May will be $66.7 per MWh. // 01.06.2022 - InfoMarket
