The cost of Russian gas for Moldova will increase taking into account the rise in prices for oil products and other energy resources on international markets - "Moldovagaz".
This was announced by the Chairman of the Management Board of the enterprise Vadim Ceban in an interview with the NTS TV channel, noting that in the issue of gas prices it is necessary to remove the politics, since this issue is overly politicized. He recalled that last year some accused Moldovagaz of the fact that the company buys gas at very high prices, pointing out that it costs $ 70 per 1,000 cubic meters on European exchanges, and Moldovagaz buys it for $ 130. “This year has been unusual compared to last. Last year, against the background of the excitement in 2019 in the markets over possible problems with the conclusion of a contract between Russia and Ukraine on the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine, a lot of gas was pumped into underground storage facilities in Europe, including in Ukraine. There were also many proposals from the suppliers of liquefied natural gas. A mild, warm winter and the coronavirus pandemic also contributed to a decrease in consumption and a decrease in gas prices on the market, which ultimately affected the final tariff in Moldova. Tariffs have been reduced. And there were real economic preconditions for this, "said the Chairman of the Board of Moldovagaz. According to him, this year the situation is more difficult, and this is due to the fact that the economies in Europe and in the world as a whole show a certain growth. The demand for energy resources is recovering. There is excitement in the oil products market, which Moldova has also faced. “Natural gas does not stand aside. If last year quotations in the summer on gas exchanges in Europe were $ 50-70 to a maximum of $ 100 per 1,000 cubic meters, now these quotations reach $ 450-460 without delivery of "blue fuel" to the border. Prices are rising in the region, both Romania and Ukraine, not to mention Western Europe. Certain price correction is definitely in store for us. But due to the fact that we have a reliable, guaranteed supplier - Gazprom, our traditional supplier, it is too early to talk about this. We will talk about when a new gas contract is signed or the current one is extended. Then we will talk about tariffs. But there will be a definite tariff correction, ”Vadim Ceban said. He did not talk about a possible specific percentage of the tariff increase. Earlier it was reported that the Moldovagaz company asked Gazprom by the end of September to extend the current contract for the supply of natural gas to Moldova for several more years. The current contract for the supply of Russian gas to Moldova and its transit through the country will be valid until the end of September 2021. // 28.07.2021 — InfoMarket
