Moldovatransgaz signed a Memorandum of Understanding on trans-regional cooperation for the development of an integrated gas market for South-Eastern and Eastern Europe (SEEGAS).

Moldovatransgaz signed a Memorandum of Understanding on trans-regional cooperation for the development of an integrated gas market for South-Eastern and Eastern Europe (SEEGAS).

This was announced by the Secretariat of the European Energy Community. As noted, the relevant document was signed on July 21 by the Secretariat of the Energy Community, energy exchanges and system operators of different countries, including the Moldovatransgaz company, the Ukrainian Energy Exchange and the Operator of the gas transmission system of Ukraine. The signatories to the memorandum will cooperate in developing cross-border natural gas trade, for example, on exchange platforms, as well as introduce transparent and competitive pricing mechanisms in the interregional market, as well as efficient cross-border gas transportation and interoperability. “The Memorandum of Understanding on Transregional Cooperation for the Development of an Integrated South Eastern and Eastern European Gas Market (SEEGAS) is specifically aimed at creating conditions for the functioning of a competitive liquid SEEGAS market, ensuring unhindered access to the relevant natural gas markets by all its participants and service providers on a non-discriminatory basis and on a level playing field, according to EU law. The purpose of the memorandum is also to promote cooperation on the implementation of an effective clearing system for operations with natural gas that meets the best European practices, ”the European Energy Community Secretariat said in a statement. Among the signatories to the memorandum are: Romanian Energy Exchange (BRM), Hungarian Central Eastern European Gas Exchange (CEEGEX), Polish Energy Exchange (TGE), Austrian Central European Gas Hub (CEGH), as well as Moldovan gas transmission system operators (Moldovatransgaz ), Poland (GAZ-SYSTEM), Hungary (FGSZ). As noted by the Secretariat of the European Energy Community, after the signing of the memorandum, the first meeting of the joint supervisory committee of SEEGAS will take place. Subsequently, such meetings will be held at least once every three months.
