The throughput capacity of the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline will increase from October 1, which will allow it to supply higher volumes of gas from Romania to Moldova.
This was reported by the Romanian company Transgaz, noting that after the recent conclusion between Transgaz and Vestmoldtransgaz of an additional act to the agreement on interconnection and updating the Unified method for determining the throughput capacity at the Ungheni point, starting from October 1, the technical capacity in Ungheni in both directions of transportation will be increased. In particular, on the Romania-Moldova route, the maximum technical capacity will be 5,076,000 m3 / day (0⁰C), respectively, 57,542 MWh / day (15/15 ⁰C). At the same time, in the Moldova-Romania direction, the maximum technical capacity will be 932,000 m3 / day (0⁰C), respectively, 10,543 MWh / day (15 / 15⁰C). As InfoMarket reported earlier, the general director of the Romanian company Transgaz, Ion Sterian, said earlier that Moldova from October 1 will be able to receive the bulk of Russian natural gas in transit through Romania, and not through Ukraine. He noted that the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline can start operating at full capacity from October 1, and Romania will supply Russian gas to Moldova in transit through it. In addition, according to him, the Moldovatransgaz company is interested in storing in underground gas storage facilities in Romania about 20% of its total annual gas consumption for use at the peak of consumption in Moldova. Ion Sterian recalled that currently only gas intended for Moldova is transported through Ukraine, through the former trans-Balkan corridor, while Romania and other Balkan countries import Russian gas through the Turkish Stream from April 1, 2021.// 06.07.2021 — InfoMarket
