Such data are contained in the report of the National Energy Regulatory Agency on activities in 2020. The document notes that in the first quarter of 2020, the average purchase price of natural gas from Gazprom was $180.3 per 1,000 cubic meters and was 19.5% lower than in the previous quarter (in the fourth quarter of 2019, the average purchase price was $224 per 1,000 cubic meters). Subsequently, according to the contract for the purchase of natural gas, the average purchase price of Russian gas for Moldova changed quarterly, decreasing and amounting to $168.3 per 1,000 cubic meters in the second quarter of 2020, in the III quarter - $136.7 per 1 thousand cubic meters, and in the IV quarter - $114.5 per 1 thousand cubic meters. As a result, the average purchase price of natural gas for Moldova in 2020 amounted to $148.87 per 1,000 cubic meters, which is 36.3% less compared to 2019 ($233.67 per 1,000 cubic meters). According to ANRE, in general Moldova (excluding Transnistria) in 2020 acquired 1 billion 127 million cubic meters of natural gas, which is 6.6% more than a year earlier. In value terms, the volume of purchases of Russian gas in January-December 2020, compared to the same period of the previous year, decreased by 31.7% - to 2 billion 934.9 million lei, which was a consequence of a 35.9% decrease in the purchase price for gas from 4064 lei (in lei equivalent, excluding VAT) for 1 thousand cubic meters in 2019 - to 2604 lei per 1 thousand cubic meters in 2020.
