The volume of bilateral trade between Moldova and Lithuania increased by 25% last year, and Lithuania's contribution to various projects in Moldova exceeds €30 million

These figures were presented by Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean during a press conference on May 23 on the occasion of the official visit to Moldova by Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas. Dorin Recean emphasized the sincere Moldovan-Lithuanian friendship and partnership based on a shared vision of a united, peaceful, and secure Europe. He thanked Lithuania for its firm and constant support for Moldova's European path and for its solidarity with Ukraine. He noted that Lithuania's assistance to Moldova exceeds €30 million, which has enabled the implementation of specific projects in areas such as agriculture, green energy energy, such as the installation of solar panels in government buildings, security (equipping the Border Police with modern technology and supporting the National Army), and institutional development, including assistance to the National Bank of Moldova and the Competition Council to bring them into line with EU standards. Prime Minister also noted that the volume of Moldovan-Lithuanian bilateral trade over the past year has grown by more than 25%, amounting to about $47 million. He proposed organizing a Moldovan-Lithuanian business forum in Chisinau to further stimulate direct contacts between business circles and expand trade and economic cooperation. Dorin Recean recalled that Moldova was the first country to recognize Lithuania's restoration of independence in the spring of 1990. He presented his colleague with a symbolic gift—a copy from the national archives of the Moldovan parliament's decision of May 31, 1990, recognizing Lithuania's independence. Gintautas Paluckas, in turn, said that the purpose of his visit was to confirm Lithuania's support for Moldova. He assured that Lithuania remains a staunch supporter of Moldova's European aspirations and will continue to share its experience and technical assistance for the implementation of reforms so that Moldova can become a member of the EU in the near future. Gintautas Paluckas is on an official visit to Moldova on May 23. In addition to meeting with Prime Minister, his visit includes a meeting with President of Moldova. The main topics of the meeting will be Lithuania's continued support for our country's European integration and the development of economic cooperation both bilaterally and through the EU and NB8 platforms. // 23.05.2025 — InfoMarket.
