
Strengthening Moldovan-US strategic partnership was discussed in Washington, DC
The Moldovan Foreign Ministry reported this, noting that, in particular, Foreign Minister Mihai Popşoi held meetings with the new Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the US House of Representatives, Brian Mast, and the Chairman of the Security and Helsinki Committee, Senator Roger Wicker. The discussions were aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between Moldova and the US, promoting the country's European path, as well as the current challenges in the geopolitical context. The sides also discussed the impact of the war in Ukraine on the regional security, the measures taken by Moldova to counter harmful external influences, as well as the efforts taken to enhance energy and cyber resilience. At the same time, at a meeting with the Co-chairmen of the Moldova Friendship Group in the House of Representatives, Mihai Popşoi emphasized the importance of the parliamentary group in consolidating the Moldovan-US relations and thanked the group's members for their dedication to promoting Moldova's interests in the US Congress and to consolidating the partnership between the two states. As previously reported, Moldova is negotiating with the US on the resumption of financing for energy projects, which the US Agency for International Development (USAID) had earlier pledged to support.
