Moldova-France Business Forum to be held on March 11 in Paris
This event is organized by the Business France Agency within the framework of Moldovan President Maia Sandu's visit to France and represents an opportunity for Moldovan companies to explore new business opportunities and expand cooperation with partners from France. According to the Moldovan Investment Agency, after the signing of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union in 2014, the trade turnover between the two countries has increased significantly. Moldova supplies to the French market wines and alcoholic beverages, agricultural products (apples, plums, juices, jams, etc.), clothes and textiles, tobacco products, food products, including canned food and bakery products. Through this Forum, the Investment Agency of Moldova will promote Moldova as an attractive destination for international investments and will contribute to deepening the economic relations between Moldova and France. The organizer of the Moldova-France Business Forum - Business France Agency - notes that since 2020 Moldova has embarked on a wide-ranging reform process aimed at ameliorating the living standards of the population, reforming the administration, improving the business climate and attracting foreign investors. After signing the Association Agreement in 2014with the EU establishing a free trade zone in 2014, Moldova has significantly strengthened its trade relations with the EU, which has become its main economic partner. This rapprochement accelerated with the granting of EU candidate status in June 2022, which opened a real European perspective for Moldova. At the end of 2023, European leaders decided to start accession negotiations, accompanied by an increase in EU aid. In October 2024, the European Commission proposed a 1.8 billion euros Growth Plan for Moldova, the largest financial support package Moldova will receive since independence. This support will allow for large-scale public investments and facilitate the continuation of major reforms aimed at boosting economic growth. Moldova is thus reorienting its economic, trade and energy relations towards the EU. The country seeks to diversify its partners in order to contribute to the numerous structural projects financed by international donors, which in recent years have increased their support to meet the country's priority needs, presenting many business opportunities. The Moldova-France Business Forum will allow discussing business opportunities related to Moldova's economic transition and development in the sectors of infrastructure, transportation, energy, agriculture and IT. The Forum will discuss Moldova's economic prospects and business climate, the consolidation of Moldova's energy independence, balanced regional development in infrastructure and transport (aviation and railway sector, public transport), priority projects and business opportunities in the healthcare sector, cooperation prospects in agriculture and forestry, agri-food and wine industry, technology and IT. The Forum will include thematic and industry round tables, B2B meetings to discuss cooperation with potential partners. // 18.02.2025 - InfoMarket.
