The authorities are working to make Moldova a member of the EU within the next four years, and a €1.9 billion growth plan for the country will help accelerate reforms and improve the well-being of citizens - Dorin Recean
Prime Minister made this statement during a meeting with EU ambassadors and Moldova's development partners, which he attended together with President Maia Sandu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu. The officials discussed the Growth Plan for Moldova, the reform program, and measures to strengthen the country's regional, energy, and cyber security, as well as important steps taken by Moldova to move closer to EU accession. “We are on the right track, and we must all continue on this common path, which offers all Moldovan citizens three fundamental things: peace and security, stability and national unity, as well as economic development and prosperity. We are working to ensure that Moldova becomes a member of the EU not in 10 or 20 years, but in the next four years. It will not be easy, but it is not impossible. We will succeed through internal unity and external solidarity,” Dorin Recean said. Speaking about the EU-funded €1.9 billion Growth Plan for Moldova, Prime Minister stressed that this assistance is an opportunity to accelerate the pace of reforms and involves tangible measures for all residents of the country. “This is an important component of our plan to join the European Union. It will help us increase productivity, build a strong economy, raise wages, and improve living conditions for all citizens,” said the head of the Cabinet. In addition, the meeting discussed the situation in the energy sector and ongoing projects that will enhance the country's energy security, such as the Vulcanesti-Chisinau power line. The interlocutors also noted efforts to combat disinformation and propaganda, which are increasing in the context of the parliamentary elections scheduled for the fall. // 08.05.2025 – InfoMarket.
