Romania has prepared a new support package for Moldovan citizens.
This was stated by the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis at a joint briefing in Chisinau with President of Moldova Maia Sandu. He noted that, in particular, the new package of support to Romania for the citizens of Moldova announced by him provides for the early signing of the 6th additional protocol to the Grant Agreement in the amount of 100 million euros in order to extend the term of the Agreement and expand the areas of cooperation. “In this way, we will be able to continue and expand the successful bilateral assistance programs that have been in place so far,” stressed Klaus Iohannis. According to him, in addition, Romania will support the process of vaccination of Moldovan citizens against COVID-19 by providing up to 200 thousand doses of vaccine and sending to Chisinau, at the next stage, a group of Romanian experts to exchange experience and help prepare a vaccination strategy. The Romanian President also noted that Moldova will be supplied, as before, with medicines, medical and protective equipment for the care of patients with COVID-19. Moldovan farmers affected by the drought will also receive assistance: about 6 thousand tons of diesel fuel. Klaus Iohannis said that Romania will also continue to support the consolidation of civil society and the independence of the media in Moldova and will make a new financial contribution in 2021, at least equivalent to that made in November 2020, in the amount of 250 thousand euros. The Romanian President said that the parties initiate deeper cooperation in the field of justice and the fight against corruption. They also plan to sign a protocol on cooperation in the field of education for 2021-2025 as soon as possible, which will allow Romania to further support the process of reforming the education system in Moldova, as well as providing places for study with a scholarship and without a scholarship in pre-university institutions and public universities.// 29.12.2020 — InfoMarket.
