Moldovan Parliament was unable to start working normally on Thursday morning.
A break was announced several times in the meeting. Taking into account the impossibility of ensuring normal legislative activity, after the end of the first long break, Vice-Speaker Vlad Batrincea, chairing the meeting, announced a new break for an hour, urging the leaders of the factions to meet and discuss the situation at a meeting of the Permanent Bureau. MPs of the PAS and Platform DA factions blocked the parliamentary rostrum after the majority of the MPs from the PSRM faction, the SOR Party and the “For Moldova” parliamentary platform as a whole did not support their proposal to exclude from today’s agenda and postpone for the next week the draft fiscal policy and draft budgets for 2021, as well as a number of other bills concerning the withdrawal of the Information and Security Service (SIS) from under the control of the president and the transfer of SIS under the control of parliament, the bill on the functioning of languages in Moldova to establish a special status for the Russian language, the bill to resume broadcasting in Moldova of information, military and information-analytical programs of Russian TV channels, the bill on expanding the powers of the Gagauz autonomy authorities, etc. Opposition MPs said the latest bills are aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country and promoting further disunity in society, and the reduction of the president's powers was regarded as an attempt to usurp power. They said the fiscal policy for the next year is antisocial, containing various gray schemes, lobbying the interests of big business and importers, directed against farmers for whom the VAT is increased, as well as against other citizens for whom taxes are increased, benefits are canceled, and fines for business are raised etc. Opposition MPs also said that they received draft annual budgets only on Tuesday and were physically unable to study them thoroughly. In this regard, they proposed to exclude from the agenda the draft fiscal policy, annual budgets and a number of other bills, saying that they would not allow them to be adopted today and would block the parliamentary rostrum all day. The only right decision for today, as it was mentioned, is to close the meeting and approve another agenda at the meeting of the Permanent Bureau. An attempt to start the consideration of bills in parliament at this meeting by hearing Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister Sergiu Puscuta from his place, from the government box, did not bring success, since opposition representatives shouted "Shame", "Snap elections" not only from the parliamentary tribune, but also having approached the government box. Since it has arisen a threat of brawls between the MPs from the government and the opposition, it was announced a new break. All this time, several thousand supporters of the elected President of Moldova Maia Sandu held a rally in front of the parliament building; they spoke in support of her, demanding the resignation of the government, the dissolution of parliament, and snap elections. // 03.12.2020 - InfoMarket.
