
Maia Sandu wins a landslide victory in the second round of the presidential elections in Moldova and became the first woman president in our country.
According to the preliminary data of the Central Election Commission announced on Monday, obtained after processing 100% of the protocols, in general, Maia Sandu won 57.75% of the citizens’ votes (943,486), while Igor Dodon - 42.25% (690139). At the same time, in contrast to the first round of elections, Maia Sandu won not only on the account of the Moldovan citizens’ voting abroad, but also within the country as a whole. She received the majority of votes not only in Chisinau, but also in many districts, not only in the Central and Western Moldova, but also in the south, with the exception of Gagauzia and Taraclia districts, where almost 95% and 93% of citizens voted for Igor Dodon, respectively. In the Moldovan capital, Maia Sandu won 59.70% (206820) of votes, winning in all districts of Chisinau and the suburbs of the municipality. The greatest advantage to Maia Sandu was brought by the voting abroad, where for the first time in history more than 262.1 thousand citizens of Moldova voted. Maia Sandu got 92.94% (243605) of votes there, and Igor Dodon only 7.06% (18498).
