
Moldovan wines were presented to leaders of the Japanese wine industry during an event organized by Wine of Moldova Japan.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the guests of honor included Yamato Aoyama, a member of the national parliament and the Moldova-Japan parliamentary friendship group, and Keisuke Tsumura, a member of the House of Representatives. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry noted that the event to promote Moldovan wines held in Tokyo on May 27 is part of the government's ongoing efforts to open up new opportunities for producers and exporters in the wine industry. The day before, on May 26, an event to promote Moldovan wines was held in Tokyo at the headquarters of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with the participation of Japanese media representatives, and then one of the largest importers of Moldovan wine to Japan held another tasting, which was attended by 60 distributors and wine lovers eager to discover Moldovan wines. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Moldova exported a record volume of wine to Japan in 2024 - 409 thousand liters, which is twice as much as in 2023. Our country has been exporting wine to Japan for over 10 years, and 2024 has become the best year for deliveries to the Land of the Rising Sun to date, and 409 thousand liters of Moldovan wine were delivered to the Japanese market in 2024, compared to 209 thousand liters in 2023 and 283 thousand liters in 2022.
