The “Water Supply and Sanitation Security” project, with a total value of €45.65 million, is being successfully implemented in Moldova
This was discussed during a meeting held by Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, with a group of World Bank experts who were monitoring the implementation of the project. The mission was led by team leader and senior specialist in water supply and sanitation Stjepan Gabric. During the meeting, the findings of the assessment mission were presented, including key results on the status of implementation of infrastructure subprojects in the Cahul, Vulcanesti, Riscani, and Soroca districts; the pilot sewerage project in the village of Andrusul de Jos (Cahul district); and construction/renovation works on internal sanitation infrastructure in 30 educational and medical institutions. Discussions also included an assessment of financial, environmental, and social components, procurement processes, as well as institutional capacity-building measures necessary for the effective provision of water supply and sanitation services at the local and national levels. The “Water Supply and Sanitation Security in Moldova” project, implemented by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, aims to expand access to safe water and sanitation services in selected rural areas and cities, strengthen local and national institutional capacities for the provision of water and sanitation services, and enhance the sector’s resilience in crisis situations.
