The EBRD will allocate a loan of 57 million euros for the expansion and modernization of 3 important road arteries in Chisinau and the development of local infrastructure

As it is noted in the materials of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the decision on this issue is scheduled for May 7. In particular, the loan is intended to finance the expansion and modernization of 3 main urban roads, which are the most important road arteries with a total length of about 8.5 km in Chisinau, and to support the related development of local districts: Mircea cel Bătrân Boulevard; Industriala Street; Mesager Street. The project will be a continuation of investments under the approved Green City Action Plan of Chisinau in relation to the strategic objective of sustainable mobility and transportation. The project aims to provide the city with the key infrastructure needed to: support zonal urban development plans and stimulate industrial and economic development; promote sustainable mobility by improving traffic management and integrating facilities for sustainable and inclusive mobility in line with the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan; and incorporate environmental protection measures. This operation will enable the city to provide the necessary access to new urban development areas to meet growing demographic, social and economic needs. It should also include all relevant provisions for sustainable mobility, provide quality and inclusive urban spaces for city dwellers, and support the development of practices that enhance and create sustainable urbanization. It is planned that the EBRD will provide Chisinau with a loan of 57 million euros in three tranches. The total cost of the project will amount to 68.4 million euros. It is expected that the loan will be supplemented by an investment grant and the city's contribution. // 27.02.2025 - InfoMarket.
