Moldova will allocate more than 355.2 million lei to implement the Dniester River Basin Management Plan for 2025-2030

The named plan was approved by the government at a meeting on Wednesday. It is expected that 229.26 million lei of the total amount will be invested from international financial resources through technical assistance projects, while the remaining 125.97 million lei will be obtained from the state budget. According to the Environment Ministry, thanks to the new the Dniester River Basin Management Plan for 2025-2030 adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers, the water resources and related ecosystems of the Dniester River Basin will be protected and managed more efficiently. The plan includes specific actions aimed at developing wastewater collection and treatment infrastructure, improving water quality by reducing pollutants, and preventing the risk of droughts and floods. The plan also includes projects already being implemented: construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Soroca, rehabilitation and modernization of centralized water supply and sewerage systems in rural settlements, cleaning and deepening of riverbeds, as well as their survey. Other actions included in the plan concern the strengthening of cooperation between Moldova and Ukraine in the field of water resources management, monitoring of surface water quality, maintenance and conservation of aquatic species inhabiting protected areas, as well as conducting information campaigns on the importance of water resources protection. // 19.02.2025 - InfoMarket.
