The Ministry of Energy and the Investment Agency of Moldova will cooperate to attract investments in the energy sector and develop innovations in it

The parties signed on Wednesday a Memorandum of Agreement on strengthening cooperation in order to attract investments in the energy sector and stimulate innovations. The document was signed by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Cristina Pereteatcu and the Director of the Investment Agency Natalia Bejan. According to the Ministry of Energy, the main objective of the memorandum is to create an effective operational framework through which the two institutions will support the development of innovative solutions that contribute to improving security and energy efficiency, as well as the economic development of the country. The document will also contribute to the optimal management of energy resources, taking into account national priorities for economic and social development, as well as the creation of added value for the economy. "Cooperation with the Investment Agency is important for promoting the image of the energy sector, as well as for creating new opportunities to support the development of innovations in this area. Together, we will help attract investors and promote solutions for testing new technologies and business models that are in line with our goals of green transition and digitalization of the energy sector,” said Cristina Pereteatcu. In turn, Natalia Bejan noted that attracting investments and encouraging innovation in the energy sector, whether it is renewable energy, its storage or distribution, is one of the strategic areas of the Investment Agency in 2025. “A strategic partnership with the Ministry of Energy is necessary to achieve success. “It is important to demonstrate to the private sector the close cooperation between the Ministry of Energy and the Investment Agency, while ensuring that we take into account the interests and priorities of the country at every stage,” she said. By signing the memorandum, the Ministry of Energy has committed to supporting the search for investment opportunities and facilitating investors’ access to important information on energy efficiency measures, as well as on the possibilities for developing energy production from renewable sources. The Ministry of Energy will also provide technical assistance to interested investors by monitoring market trends and preparing periodic reports in response to requests from potential investors. The Investment Agency, for its part, will actively promote the dissemination of information on the need for efficient energy resource management, facilitating a dialogue between investors and responsible authorities. The Agency will also provide consultations and expertise to identify new areas of cooperation and implement joint activities. The Moldovan government recently adopted the Regulation on Innovative Test Sites in the Energy Sector (Sandbox), which is part of the innovation implementation mechanism. The new regulation will create a legal framework and support the development and implementation of innovative solutions, stimulating the testing of new business models and thus contributing to strengthening Moldova’s energy security. // 12.02.2025 — InfoMarket
