Moldova will implement the National E-Mobility Strategy (E-Mobilitate)

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development announced this, noting that the concept of this national strategy was presented at a seminar organized by the Ministry in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. This strategic document meets Moldova's goal of achieving climate neutrality in the long term, with a special focus on the electrification of the transport sector. The strategy aims to change the way in which transport contributes to sustainable development, given that this sector generates 26.3% of national greenhouse gas emissions. At the workshop, experts, representatives of public authorities, private sector and international organizations analyzed the priorities of the future strategic document and discussed the solutions needed to reduce emissions and transition to electric mobility. Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea stressed the importance of an integrated approach involving cooperation between different sectors - from transport and energy to digitalization, urban development, tourism and finance. He noted that the transition to a sustainable mobility system is essential for our future. “Today we have the chance to lay the foundations for this transformation and together build a cleaner, more modern and efficient future. To succeed, the strategy must be comprehensive and include representatives from different sectors - transport, energy, digitalization, urban and rural development, tourism, finance and European integration. In addition, cooperation with the private sector will be essential for the implementation of pilot projects and turning the vision into reality,” Vladimir Bolea emphasized. He thanked the EBRD for its constant support to Moldova in the development of infrastructure and improvement of the quality of transport services. The Minister said that this partnership is a valuable support for the country's achievement of the goals of the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan and of the international commitments to reduce carbon emissions. It is planned that the National E-Mobility strategy provides an opportunity to accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation and aims at improving the quality of life of citizens and reducing the impact on the environment. The industry body emphasized that the workshop was the first concrete step in the consultation process, ensuring an open and constructive dialogue between all stakeholders. // 29.01.2025 – InfoMarket
