Moldova's financing plan for regional development programs and projects envisages the allocation of 701.5 million lei this year

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development announced this, noting that 301.5 million lei will be allocated for regional development and 400 million lei for local development. The implemented projects will allow improving the quality of life of the citizens and stimulating the sustainable development of the Moldovan settlements. During the meeting of the National Coordination Council for Regional and Local Development, held at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the achievements of the Unified Program Document (UPD) for 2022-2024 were presented, showing the significant impact of the investments on Moldova's communities. In particular, 785 km of modernized water supply networks and 149 km of modernized sewerage networks have improved living conditions for 250 thousand inhabitants in 156 settlements. About 610 kilometers of new street lighting networks were installed in 151 localities. 214 kindergartens, schools and cultural centers were renovated, as well as 191 sports and playgrounds, which were used by more than 830 thousand residents across the country. Overall, the Unified Program Document for 2022-2024 included 1,608 local development projects with a budget of more than 5 billion lei, of which about 4.5 billion lei was allocated by the government and 520 million lei are the contributions of local authorities. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, in 2022-2024, 494 projects out of 496 selected within the 1st edition of the “European Village” National Program have been fully implemented. The “European Village Express” program with 380 projects and “Public Kindergartens-1” program with 20 projects have also been fully completed. Another 712 local development projects were approved within the “European Village-2” and “State kindergartens-2” programs in autumn 2024, of which 654 projects have already been launched, with signed financing contracts, and about 13.2 million lei have already been allocated for 9 projects. In the same period, 28 regional development projects were implemented out of 82 projects included in the Unified Program Document (UPD) for 2022-2024, while the remaining 53 projects, which are under implementation, will be transferred to the new Unified Program Document for 2025-2027. At the meeting of the National Coordinating Council for Regional and Local Development, the draft of the new Unified Program Document for 2025-2027 was presented and approved, which will include: 54 regional development projects, of which 53 are transferred from the UPD for 2022-2024; 815 local development projects, of which 719 are transferred from previous programs and 96 new projects. For 2025 the financing plan for regional development programs and projects provides for 701.5 million lei to be allocated as follows: 301.5 million lei for regional development and 400 million lei for local development.
