The Future Technologies Activity (FTA) will provide another $300,000 to Moldova IT Park (MITP) to strengthen the technology ecosystem

The parties signed the corresponding grant agreement last week. It was announced at the SUM IT UP #7 event, organized on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of MITP. The FTA project grant, which is funded by USAID, Sweden and the UK, is for 12 months. It will be used to promote MITP at the international level and Moldova as an IT country, to hold events to promote cooperation and networking, to implement a mentoring program, to promote producers, to develop the MITP strategy for 2025-2030, etc. It should be noted that in the previous 2 years FTA support for MITP totaled $745 thousand. This time the grant is allocated directly, through institutional funding, which means a high level of donors' confidence in MITP. Thus, the total amount of support to MITP for innovation and transformation of the technology sector will exceed $1 million. It is worth mentioning that since its inception in January 2018, Moldova IT Park has contributed significantly to the country's GDP and turned the ICT industry into one of the most dynamic sectors of the economy. In the first half of 2024, MITP contributed about 5% of Moldova's GDP (and the entire IT industry of the country - 63%). For comparison, in 2018, the role of the IT industry was much more modest - 1-1.5% of GDP. Today, 2,135 companies are residents of the Park (in 2018 - 338). Since the beginning of 2024, the Park residents have paid taxes of 1.7 billion lei (in 2018 - 340 thousand lei). // 24.12.2024 - InfoMarket.
