Financial intermediation is a central element in enhancing access to finance both for companies and individuals - Anca Dragu
This was stated by the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) at a meeting with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce of Moldova (AmCham Moldova), during which the issues of cooperation between the NBM and this non-governmental organization, support for financial intermediation and strengthening the dialogue between the National Bank and the business environment were discussed. Anca Dragu emphasized that the harmonization of the national financial system with the European standards gives investors the opportunity to develop business in Moldova on the basis of rules similar to those of the EU. “This harmonization with the EU legislation will gain momentum in the coming period, given that Moldova, a candidate country for EU accession, initiated accession negotiations in June 2024, and is currently involved in an extensive dialogue with the European Commission (screening) on the level of preparation for EU accession,” the NBM Governor said. Another aspect highlighted by Anca Dragu concerns financial intermediation. “This is a central element in enhancing access to finance, both for companies and individuals,” she emphasized. Anca Dragu said that the NBM focuses its efforts on strengthening the banking system and diversifying the sources of financing, through policies and regulations that support the competitiveness of the financial market. Thanks to a more efficient financial intermediation, entrepreneurs and consumers can get access to the resources needed for development, in a transparent and stable environment. AmCham Moldova is a non-governmental, non-profit organization with 125 members from a diverse range of businesses, from large foreign investors to small businesses operating domestically and abroad. // 20.12.2024 - InfoMarket
