Moldova is interested in attracting new Swedish investments.
This was discussed during a meeting held by Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Swedish Minister of International Cooperation, Development and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa. As reported by the government press service, they discussed Moldova's progress towards European integration, the current regional situation and the actions of our country's authorities to overcome challenges in the energy sector. The head of the Cabinet highly appreciated Sweden's assistance during crises, noting that the implemented programs and Swedish assistance bring additional benefits to Moldova's development. The Prime Minister also thanked the Swedish minister for his country's contribution to strengthening Moldova's energy independence. Sweden will allocate about 8.7 million euros to the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund. These funds will allow the state to support the most vulnerable households and help reduce the burden of electricity costs this winter. "The energy crisis created by the Russian Federation has shown who Moldova's reliable friends are. We will continue to take active strategic steps and, together with our partners in the European Union, we will ensure the final independence of the entire country from the blackmail of Russian gas,” Dorin Recean said. The parties also discussed the attraction of Swedish investments to Moldova, the fight against hybrid threats, the reforms carried out by the authorities in key areas, the European path of our country and the possibilities of strengthening Moldovan-Swedish cooperation for the benefit of the citizens of both countries. The government noted that Sweden is one of Moldova’s most important development partners, thanks to numerous projects implemented by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. Bilateral cooperation focuses on the development of educational programs, economic growth, environmental protection, and increasing the sustainability of Moldova’s energy sector. // 11.02.2025 — InfoMarket.
