The U.S. will allocate $135 million to rebuild the economies of Moldova and Ukraine.
In particular, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced the transfer of $135 million for the recovery of the Ukrainian and Moldovan economies from the previously liquidated The U.S. Russia Investment Fund (TUSRIF). According to a statement on the USAID website, in particular, the U.S.-Russia Investment Fund (TUSRIF), in partnership with the U.S. Congress, will transfer more than $154 million in total to support those most affected by the war in Ukraine. Specifically, $135 million will go to the Western NIS Enterprise Fund (WNISEF) to support economic recovery in Ukraine and Moldova, and another $18 million will support civil society and independent media in Russia. As noted, the Western NIS Enterprise Fund, a long-time USAID partner, has demonstrated an ability to effectively support private sector development in Moldova and Ukraine. With these funds, the USAID Partnership Fund can support a sustainable private sector that creates jobs and helps revitalize the agricultural and manufacturing sectors. This support will also help Moldova and Ukraine continue to modernize and develop their economies and follow their European path. // 02.02.2023 – InfoMarket
