In Moldova, in 2022, within the framework of the National Program "European Village", the implementation of 462 local development projects was initiated.
This was announced by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, presenting achievements in the field of regional development for 2022. As noted, last year, activities in the field of regional development were aimed at implementing a new Regional Development Policy Concept, the main goal of which is to increase the competitiveness and sustainable development of the country's regions, eliminating disparities and improving the quality of life of citizens. At the same time, the development of an additional program in the field of local development aimed at expanding the coverage area of regional projects was initiated. Together with regional development agencies, a competition of local development projects has been launched within the framework of the National Program "European Village", financed from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development. As a result, the implementation of 462 local development projects was initiated, which will help ensure citizens' access to quality public services and social infrastructure. A new cycle of strategic planning has been launched until 2028, 2 important strategic documents have been approved: National Regional Development Strategy for 2022-2028 and the Single Program Document for 2022-2024. The main mission of the mentioned strategy is to increase income from sustainable sources and reduce inequality, increase people's access to physical infrastructure and public services, improve working conditions and reduce informal employment, ensure the basic right to a healthy and safe environment. Single program document for 2022-2024 includes 45 regional development projects and 496 local development projects with a total value of about 3.1 billion lei. 41 regional development projects and 462 local development projects were launched and 538.1 million lei have already been disbursed from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development. Another important achievement in the region was the approval of the new Law on the National Fund for Regional and Local Development, which establishes the basis for the formation and management of financial sources, as well as the principles for their use to finance regional and local development initiatives. In addition, a competition of projects was launched within the framework of the National Program of Pole Cities for Regional Growth (Edinet, Soroca, Ungheni, Orhei, Comrat, Cahul) and local public authorities of cities or municipalities, which approved the Urban Revival Programs. The projects will be financed from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development. The Financing Agreement between Moldova and the International Development Association was ratified for the implementation of the project “Safety of Water Supply and Sanitation in Moldova”. Investments through the project in the amount of $44.1 million will improve the access of the population to safe and high-quality public water supply and sewerage services. Herewith, the works on the construction of the Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi main water pipeline were recognized as a project of national importance. This will allow the implementation of a large-scale water supply project worth about 27.65 million euros, which will connect the Straseni and Calarasi regions with the Chisinau main water pipeline. An agreement was ratified between the governments of Moldova and Romania on regulating the construction of water pipelines and a protocol amending the agreement. Thus, for the first time, residents of 4 districts of Moldova (Nisporeni, Ungheni, Falesti and Glodeni) are given the opportunity to receive water at the level of European standards, being connected to water sources in Romania. // 09.01.2023 — InfoMarket.
