USAID has launched a new $50 million project in Moldova in 2022 to improve rural competitiveness and sustainability.

According to a USAID Moldova news release, this new USAID project is designed to help expand Moldova's rural economy and increase its resilience in the face of Russian invasion of Ukraine, which limits Moldovan exports and threatens Moldova's economic prosperity. Through the new program, USAID plans to engage agricultural producers, winemakers, tourism operators, and industry associations in efforts to grow and develop the agricultural, wine, and tourism sectors, building on the successes of previous USAID projects, the Moldova Competitiveness Project and the Performance Agriculture in Moldova (APM) Project. "The combination of tourism, winemaking and agriculture will continue to contribute to the development of rural Moldova. Support for agriculture will help Moldova continue to promote its products through value-added value chains, and these products will reach more markets, increasing sales and income, which will improve the daily lives of Moldovan citizens," said USAID Moldova of Mission Director Scott Hocklander. // 28.12.2022 – InfoMarket
