The USAID MISRA program to promote economic growth in Moldova has launched a $3.5 million grant program.

According to a USAID Moldova announcement, the U.S. Agency for International Development's (USAID) Moldova Institutional and Structural Reforms Activity (MISRA) program is working with the Moldovan government to support the strengthening of our country's economic sustainability. Specifically, MISRA promotes a sustainable and inclusive recovery from the regional crisis to improve the institutional, business and trade friendly environment, create conditions for structural and investment climate reforms, accelerate financial sector reforms, improve economic governance in the public sector, and enhance strategic communications between public and private actors. To achieve these goals, MISRA is launching a grant program with a total budget of $3.5 million spread over 4 years (2023-2026). The program will be implemented in several phases, each with a specific theme, and is open to eligible non-governmental, private, and quasi-public entities (academic institutions, universities, etc.). The priority areas of the MISRA grant program funding include: the promotion of west-oriented trade; promotion of e-commerce; financial and digital education of the population; optimization of customs operations and infrastructure at the Romanian/EU border crossings; digitalization of public administration processes; implementation of advanced technologies for optimization of cross-border transportation; sustainable and inclusive recovery from regional crisis impact; improving the institutional environment, business environment and trade facilitation; accelerating the implementation of trade liberalization mechanisms; adopting structural reforms and reforms related to the investment climate; accelerating financial sector reforms; improving economic governance in the public sector; strengthening strategic communication between the public and private sectors; other related areas.
